How do I share my Amtrak trip?

Advance reservations are required a minimum of two (2) days prior to travel. Valid for up to eight (8) passengers travelling together on the same itinerary. Call 1-800-USA-RAIL to make reservations for 9 to 14 travelers. For reservations with 15 or more, please complete a Group Travel Request.



Sharing your Amtrak trip status with family or friends in 2026 can be done easily through the Amtrak mobile app or website. Once you have a booking, you can go to the "My Trips" section and select your active reservation; from there, many mobile OS versions allow you to "Share" a direct link to your live Train Status via text, email, or WhatsApp. Alternatively, you can simply provide your 6-digit reservation number to your contacts, who can then enter it on the Amtrak website's "Train Status" page to see real-time updates on your arrival. For Guest Rewards members, there is also an option to "Gift Points" or "Share Points," though this is for loyalty currency rather than travel status. The best way to keep others updated on your progress is to use the Live Map feature in the app, which shows the train's exact GPS location and any estimated delays as they occur.
