How do you convert skywards miles to tier miles?

Earning Emirates elite status You can also earn tier miles by spending on an Emirates co-branded credit card. Every four Skyward miles you earn by spending on your Emirates card earns one tier mile. However, transferring rewards to Emirates from one of its many credit card program partners will not earn tier miles.

Within the Emirates Skywards program in 2026, you generally cannot directly convert your earned "Skywards Miles" (spendable miles) into "Tier Miles" (status-building miles). Skywards Miles are earned through flying, credit card spend, and partners, and can be used to book free flights or upgrades. Tier Miles, however, can only be earned by physically flying on Emirates or flydubai aircraft, or through very specific "Tier Miles" promotions occasionally offered by Emirates-branded credit cards. The ratio for earning Tier Miles is based strictly on the distance flown, the class of travel, and the fare type (e.g., a "Flex Plus" fare earns more Tier Miles than a "Special" fare). To reach the next status level (Silver, Gold, or Platinum), you must accumulate the required number of Tier Miles within a rolling 12-month period. If you are short on Tier Miles for a status upgrade, you cannot "buy" them or transfer them from your spendable balance; your only option is to book an additional flight or "mileage run" to close the gap before your review date.
