How do you get an early release at Disney?

When a cast member clocks in for their shift, they can request an Early Release. Throughout the day, Coordinators and Managers will monitor their staff and determine whether or not they can send some cast members home early. If the location is over staffed, there is a good chance some cast members will be released.

In the context of the Disney College Program (DCP) or International Programs, an "Early Release" refers to being permitted to end your work contract before the original scheduled departure date. To get a School-Related Early Release, you must submit a formal request through the Disney Programs website at least a few weeks in advance, accompanied by an official letter on school letterhead stating your name and the exact date your classes or mandatory school orientations begin. Disney generally only grants these releases if the new date is within three weeks of your original end date. There is also a Work-Approved Early Release, which requires approval from your specific work location's management; they will only grant this if your department is currently "over-staffed" and your departure won't hurt operations. It is important to note that "breaking" your program without an approved early release can result in a "restricted rehire" status, potentially preventing you from working for The Walt Disney Company in the future.
