How do you get to Duck Island Noumea?

This island is a marine reserve and is only a short distance by boat from Anse Vata beach, the main tourist area of the town of Noumea. We went via a speedy soft sided boat called a Zodiac. There was a tour guide and about 8 of us on this tour. The boat ride was 10 mins and it was fast and exciting!

Duck Island (Île aux Canards) is incredibly easy to reach from Noumea, New Caledonia. Most visitors head to Anse Vata Bay, the main tourist beach in the city. From there, you catch a water taxi (small yellow or white shuttles) right off the beach. The journey is very short, taking only about 5 to 10 minutes to cross the turquoise water. These taxis run frequently throughout the day, often on a "pay-and-go" basis without needing a prior reservation. Once you arrive on the island, you'll find a restaurant, sun loungers for rent, and an underwater snorkeling trail marked by buoys. Because the island is so close to the mainland, it is the most popular day-trip destination for cruise ship passengers and locals alike. It is recommended to wear reef shoes, as the beach is composed of crushed coral rather than soft sand, which can be quite sharp on the feet.
