How do you qualify for lifetime platinum Marriott?

You must earn 600 Qualifying Nights and 10 years as Platinum Elite or higher to achieve Lifetime Platinum Elite status. Marriott Bonvoy® would love to welcome you to the Lifetime Platinum Elite community!

To qualify for Lifetime Platinum Elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy program, a member must meet two specific requirements: 600 lifetime qualifying nights and 10 years of Platinum Elite status or higher. "Qualifying nights" include any night spent at a participating Marriott property, as well as nights earned through Marriott co-branded credit cards or the "Annual Choice Benefit" (where members can choose 5 elite night credits upon reaching 50 nights in a year). The "10 years" requirement does not have to be consecutive; it simply requires that you held Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador status for a total of ten different calendar years. Once you achieve this milestone, you will never be downgraded below Platinum, regardless of how often you stay in the future. This status is highly coveted because it provides "guaranteed" benefits for life, such as complimentary lounge access, room upgrades (including suites), a 50% points bonus on stays, and 4 p.m. late checkout. It represents a long-term commitment to the brand and is the highest lifetime tier currently achievable within the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem.

To qualify for Lifetime Platinum Elite status with Marriott Bonvoy, you need to meet both of the following cumulative lifetime milestones:

  1. Lifetime Nights: 600 paid nights.
  2. Lifetime Years of Elite Status: 10 years of Platinum Elite status or higher.

Key Details & Important Rules:

  • Paid Nights Only: The 600 nights must be from eligible paid stays. Nights from award stays (free night redemptions), partner transfers, or promotional status do not count.
  • Elite Year Qualification: A “year” of Platinum status counts if you earned Platinum (or higher) status in that calendar year, regardless of whether you maintained it for the full year. You do not need 10 consecutive years.
  • Status Tiers That Count: Years where you held Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador Elite all count toward the 10-year requirement.
  • Lifetime Silver and Gold: Marriott also offers lower-tier lifetime status:
    • Lifetime Silver Elite: 250 nights + 5 years of Silver.
    • Lifetime Gold Elite: 400 nights + 7 years of Gold.
  • No Shortcuts: There is no way to purchase, gift, or fast-track lifetime status. It is designed to reward long-term loyalty.
  • Tracking: You can check your progress toward lifetime status in your Marriott Bonvoy account under “Elite Status” or “Lifetime Elite Status.”
