If using a standard carrier, the most secure method is to place the suitcase inside a heavy-duty cardboard box; this prevents the wheels, handles, or zippers from getting caught in sorting machinery and protects the exterior from scuffs. You must remove all "Dangerous Goods" like lighters, loose lithium batteries, or aerosols. If you ship the suitcase "as is" (without a box), you must use a heavy-duty luggage tag and secure the shipping label with plenty of clear packing tape or a specialized shipping pouch. For international shipments, you will need to provide a customs declaration listing the contents (e.g., "used personal clothing") and their approximate value.
