Visiting the Jewel Changi Airport during a layover is a highlight of any trip through Singapore, but it requires careful timing since the Jewel is located in the landside area (outside of passport control). For 2026 travelers, a minimum layover of 5 hours is highly recommended. To visit, you must first clear Singapore immigration by filling out the SG Arrival Card online. Once you exit the arrivals hall, you can walk to the Jewel from Terminals 1, 2, or 3 via linked bridges; Terminal 1 is the most direct as the Jewel is integrated into its arrival hall. If your layover is shorter (2-3 hours), you can still glimpse the famous Rain Vortex by taking the free airside Skytrain between Terminals 2 and 3, which passes through the Jewel without requiring you to clear immigration. If you do exit, you can store your luggage at the 24-hour left baggage counters on Level 1. Remember to leave the Jewel at least 90 minutes before your next flight to allow time for the return through immigration and the mandatory gate-side security checks unique to Changi Airport.
