How does Disney check California residency?

Each guest, ages 18 and older, using a California Resident ticket must show proof of eligible residency for purchase and admission. You must show a valid government-issued photo ID with an address within a valid ZIP code to enter the theme parks.

In 2026, Disney uses a multi-layered approach to verify residency for special "California Resident" ticket offers. When purchasing tickets online or through the Disneyland app, the system first checks the billing ZIP code of the credit card used for the transaction; it must fall within the 90000–96199 range. However, the most critical check happens at the park gates. Each guest aged 18 and older using a resident ticket must present a valid government-issued photo ID that clearly shows a California residential address. Acceptable documents include a California Driver’s License or a State ID card. If your ID does not show your current address, Disney may accept a utility bill or bank statement from the last 60 days alongside a photo ID, though this is at the discretion of the Cast Member. In 2026, Disney’s digital systems are highly integrated, and "MagicBand+" or digital tickets are often linked to a verified MyDisney profile, making the entry process smoother for those who have already uploaded their credentials.
