How does Disney know what ride you are on?

If you have a MagicBand or other readable RFID accessible during the attraction, the ride technology automatically captures this information and links it to your account.

Disney uses a sophisticated network of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and Bluetooth technology to track guest locations and ride participation. When you wear a MagicBand+ or use the "MagicMobile" service on your smartphone, sensors located at the entrance and throughout the ride vehicles detect your unique signal. This system allows Disney to automatically link on-ride photos and videos to your account without you needing to scan anything. Furthermore, it helps Disney's AI-driven crowd management systems monitor real-time wait times and guest flow. By 2026, this technology has evolved to include Long-Range RFID, which can detect your presence as you walk through specific "zones" in the park, allowing for personalized interactions with digital displays or characters that might "recognize" you as you pass by.
