How does the British Airways lounge work?

As a Sapphire or Emerald member you are welcome to invite one single guest per each departure flight to join you in the lounge. (Guest must be travelling on British Airways or one of our oneworld partners). All lounge access is subject to capacity restrictions.

Access to British Airways lounges is primarily based on your cabin of travel or your elite status within the British Airways Executive Club or one-world alliance. If you are flying in First, Club World (long-haul business), or Club Europe (short-haul business), you are granted entry on the day of your flight. Additionally, Silver and Gold Executive Club members (or Sapphire and Emerald one-world members) can access lounges regardless of their class of travel when flying with BA or a partner. At London Heathrow Terminal 5, the flagship "Concorde Room" is reserved specifically for First Class passengers and top-tier "Premier" or high-level Gold members. Most lounges offer complimentary food, beverages (including alcohol), Wi-Fi, and shower facilities. In 2026, BA has also expanded "paid" access options for certain lounges during off-peak times, and passengers can use the "Your Lounge" feature in the BA app to check real-time capacity before heading to the terminal.
