How does universal refillable cup work?

Guests can purchase a Universal refillable cup at participating locations and then refill beverages at participating locations for $1.49 plus tax. The Universal Studios Orlando drink refills stations can be found throughout Universal, and are typically snack stands, beverage carts or quick service restaurants.

The Universal Coca-Cola Freestyle refillable cup system (often called the "Freestyle Souvenir Cup") works using RFID technology embedded in the bottom of the cup. After purchasing the cup for a flat daily fee (typically around $18–$20, with discounts for multiple cups), you can visit any of the dozens of Freestyle machines located throughout Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. You simply place your cup on the dispenser's tray, and the machine "reads" the chip to verify you have a valid daily activation. You can then choose from over 100 different drink combinations. There is a 10-minute "cooldown" period between refills to prevent sharing a single cup among a large group. If you return to the parks on a subsequent day, you do not need to buy a new cup; you can simply pay a lower "reactivation fee" (around $11–$12) at any dining location to get another full day of unlimited refills. Note that this cup is separate from the "Butterbeer" souvenir steins and the "CityWalk" refillable programs.

People Also Ask

The machines track when you fill your cup, and once your refill is done, you have to wait 10 minutes before you can use any of the machines again. Once the 10 minutes is up, you can get another free refill – so, if your group is willing to wait 10 minutes a time for refills, then we suppose you could share.
