How early can you enter Sequoia National Park?

The parks are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Occasionally, winter storms will close some park roads until they can be plowed. Other park roads are closed during winter months.

I recommend spending several days to fully explore these parks, but you can definitely do most of the iconic spots over 2 days. Sequoia and Kings Canyon together cover over 1,353 square miles with many mountains and valleys in the mix.

The main road through Sequoia National Park is the Generals Highway, which runs from one entrance all the way to the other. It takes about an hour and a half to drive all the way through the park on the 47-mile highway, although we'd recommend making plenty of stops along the way.

The Giant Forest alone is home to 8,000 giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree. The tree, which is roughly 2,200 years old, sits behind a fence and a giant sign displaying its name.
