How early can you get to Gatwick?

Long-haul: check-in opens four hours before scheduled departures. European: check-in opens three hours before. UK and Ireland: check-in opens two hours before.

You can arrive at London Gatwick (LGW) as early as you like, as the terminals are open 24 hours a day, but your ability to check in or pass through security is restricted by your airline. For long-haul flights, check-in desks typically open 4 hours before departure, while European and domestic flights open 2 to 3 hours before. If you have a very early morning flight, you can take advantage of the "Twilight Bag Drop" service offered by airlines like British Airways, easyJet, and TUI, which allows you to drop your checked luggage the evening before (usually between 16:00 and 21:00) so you can head straight to security the next morning. If you arrive too early to check in, you can wait in the public landside areas which offer cafes and shops, or book a room at one of the on-site hotels like YOTELAIR or the Sofitel for a few hours of rest before your flight.
