How early can you go through security at Disneyland?

Security Lines and When to Arrive For your best timing, arrive at your security checkpoint by 6:30am. Security should start checking bags by 7:00am. After security, head to the main gate. Disneyland Hotel guests line up at the west security point, near the Disneyland Hotel.

At the Disneyland Resort in 2026, security checkpoints typically open at 7:00 AM for guests using the Downtown Disney or hotel entrances, and 7:15 AM for the main Harbor Boulevard entrance. Arriving early is essential, as a significant queue often forms 15 to 30 minutes before the scanners open. Once you have cleared security, you are in the "Esplanade" (the area between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure). While security opens early, the theme park turnstiles generally do not begin admitting guests until about 30 to 45 minutes before the official park opening time. In 2026, "Early Entry" for hotel guests has been modified; while the benefit of entering 30 minutes early has ended for many tiers, hotel guests can still access the security lines slightly earlier through dedicated hotel-guest entrances. For "Rope Drop" enthusiasts, the goal is to be through security and at the front of the park gates by 7:30 AM to ensure you are among the first to enter when the ropes drop at 8:00 AM.
