How early can you park at Disney World?

Our strategy was to enjoy the most popular attractions before the crowds and mid-day heat arrived OR to cram in tons of non-headliner attractions in the first 90 minutes. Planning to arrive early is a great way to squeeze in extra fun. Parking lots open 45-60 minutes before each theme park's official opening time.

Parking at Walt Disney World theme parks generally opens 60 to 90 minutes before the official park opening time. However, if you are a Disney Resort guest or staying at a "Good Neighbor" hotel that offers Early Theme Park Entry, the parking plazas often begin operating even earlier—usually by 7:00 AM for an 8:30 AM early entry. Security and parking cast members are typically in place well before the first guests arrive to manage the morning "rope drop" rush. If you arrive too early (before the booths are staffed), you may be asked to wait in a designated holding area or loop back around. For 2026 visitors, it is highly recommended to check the specific park hours on the My Disney Experience app the night before, as "Early Entry" for resort guests can move the parking start time significantly. Being among the first in the lot ensures a spot closer to the front, potentially saving you a 15-minute tram ride or walk to the main entrance.

Excellent question! The answer depends on where you want to park and when you arrive. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

1. Theme Park Parking Lots (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom)

  • Official Opening Time: Parking lots typically open 1 to 1.5 hours before the park’s scheduled opening time.
  • Example: If Magic Kingdom has a posted 9:00 AM opening, the parking lot will usually open around 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM.
  • Important: Even if you arrive and park before the park officially opens, you will not be allowed to drive up to the ticket and transportation center (or park gate) until the lot opens. You may be held in a staging area.
  • Early Theme Park Entry: For Disney Resort hotel guests, parking will be open in time for “Early Theme Park Entry” (30 minutes before regular opening).

2. Disney Springs Parking

  • Garages and Surface Lots: Open very early, usually by 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM, even though most shops and restaurants don’t open until 10:00 AM or later.
  • Key Point: You can park at Disney Springs for free and stay all day. However, you cannot take a bus from Disney Springs to the theme parks. It’s a common strategy to park at Disney Springs for free if you’re planning to go there later, but you’ll need to use a rideshare, taxi, or your own car to get to a park.

3. Resort Hotel Parking

  • For Registered Guests: If you are a guest staying at the resort, you can park upon check-in (official check-in is 3:00 PM, but you can park earlier if arriving).
  • For Visitors (Dining, Shopping
