How far is the Honolulu airport to the cruise port?

Formerly known as Honolulu International Airport, Daniel K Inouye International Airport is about a 20-minute drive from the Honolulu cruise port. There are two public transportation options available: shuttles and the city bus.

The distance from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) to the primary Honolulu cruise ship terminals at Honolulu Harbor is quite short, covering approximately 5 to 6 miles (about 8 to 10 kilometers). There are two main piers where cruise ships dock: Pier 2 (used frequently by Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America) and Pier 11 (the Aloha Tower Marketplace terminal used by visiting international lines). Depending on traffic conditions, which can be quite heavy in downtown Honolulu, the drive usually takes between 15 and 25 minutes. If you arrive during the morning or afternoon rush hour, however, it is wise to budget at least 40 minutes for the journey. Most cruisers opt for a taxi or a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, which typically costs between $30 and $45. For a more budget-friendly option, "TheBus" (Honolulu's public transit system) offers routes from the airport that stop near the harbor for just $3.00, though this is only recommended if you have very light luggage as there are strict rules about bag sizes on public buses. Because of the close proximity, many travelers find they have enough time to visit nearby landmarks like Iolani Palace or the statue of King Kamehameha if they have a few hours to spare before their "All Aboard" time.
