How fast is the drop on Superman?

SUPERMAN The Ride easily clears that distinction, with a height of 208 feet and a mind-blowing 221 foot drop. At a whopping 77 miles per hour, you will zoom through a staggering 5,400 feet of twisting red track that will truly give you a sense of the superhuman. You did bring your cape, right?

On Superman: Escape from Krypton at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the ride doesn't have a traditional "drop" in the sense of a slow climb and fall; instead, it is a high-speed shuttle coaster. The ride uses a Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) system to launch riders from 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in just seven seconds. Once the car reaches the top of the 415-foot vertical tower, it pauses briefly before "dropping" back down the 90-degree track. During this vertical rollback, you experience roughly 6.5 seconds of weightlessness as you plummet back toward the station at nearly 100 mph. It remains one of the fastest and tallest "drops" in North America, providing intense G-forces of up to 4.5. Note that as of 2026, the ride's operation can be intermittent due to its complex aging launch technology.
