Or you can turn the route around and start with an uphill climb – from Positano up the 1700 steps to Nocelle. Come to the fork to choose the high or low paths; when they reconverge at Colle Serra, choose your endpoint of Praiano or Agerola, then get the 5070 or 5080 bus back to Amalfi.

There are a few different hiking trails at Garden of the Gods. The easiest is probably Perkins Central Garden Trail, which takes about an hour and has no elevation gain. If you have time for only one trail, we recommend this one because it's short enough that even kids can do it, but it's still a lot of fun.

The third and final section was 86.2 miles in length and would prove to be the hardest section of the hike. The terrain would become much more extreme and we noticed our pace greatly affected by this. We climbed the tallest mountain in the state of Vermont during this stretch Mt Mansfield at 1,340m/4,395' in elevation.

To get to The Path of the Gods hike from Sorrento you have to take the SITA bus to Amalfi and then change to get another bus for Nocelle. The total journey will take you 1 hour and a half.
