How intense are the Harry Potter rides?

For Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter attractions, the fairly mild Flight of the Hippogriff rates 3.25 on the thrill-o-meter, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey merits a 5.5, and the more thrilling coaster, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Coaster clocks in at 6.5.

The ride spins you around, but it's not enough to make you dizzy. There are also a couple of roller coaster sections, including a small drop. There's nothing that intense though. You'll witness iconic moments from The Deathly Hallows Part 2 and see some never-before-seen locations in Gringotts.

It's completely possible to do with a one day park-to-park ticket. I've done it twice now, once with an Express Unlimited Pass and once without. I'm absolutely enchanted with the book series, so when I'm visiting Universal Orlando, this is where I prefer to spend the majority of my time.

We learned from a Universal employee that it takes 35 minutes to leave Diagon Alley, exit the park, enter Islands of Adventure and walk to Hogwarts. So if the wait is 40 minutes for the Hogwarts Express (and your kids can handle the hike) don't take the train. You'll save time just walking around.

Definitely beats walking if there is little to no wait for the train, but the lines can get long, so it's actually faster to walk from park to park than to wait in this line if it's long. I'm not a die hard Harry Potter fan.

Are There Any Drops on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey? No. There are no large drops! The robotic arm does move you up and down, but it's not in an intense way.

How scary is the Hogwarts Express? We rate the Hogwarts Express one out of five Dementors in terms of fear factor. With a smooth ride and a mostly passive experience, the attraction really is designed for the whole family.

To me it was a very magical place, just like the movie. An awesome imagination experience. I felt like I was in the actual Forbidden Forest. I definitely love everything about it, the food, can't start a walk without a butterbeer, it is always a must.

Despite pre-ride warnings about high-speed thrills, Escape from Gringotts is a family coaster that most visitors, other than those with excessive scaredy-cat tendencies, should be able to tolerate and enjoy. It is most certainly not too scary for children.
