How intense is Slinky Dog Ride?

It's a gentle ride, with turns, dips, and hills providing the excitement and a top speed of 40 mph. No inversions or loops here (Andy wasn't sure how to build those out of his toy chest, I guess). And no free-falls, either.

Slinky Dog Dash is classified as a "family-friendly" coaster, meaning its intensity is moderate—somewhere between the gentle Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the more aggressive Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It does not have any inversions (it doesn't go upside down) and the "drops" are relatively shallow compared to major thrill coasters. The most unique and "intense" part of the ride is the second launch: the train stops halfway through, "pulls back" like a spring, and then launches forward with a boost of speed over a series of humps. This creates a mild "stomach-drop" sensation known as airtime. The ride is known for its "smoothness" and the panoramic views it provides of Toy Story Land. For children, it is often their first "big" coaster, but for adults used to coasters like VelociCoaster, it feels very tame. The height requirement is a modest 38 inches (97 cm), reflecting its design as a thrill that the whole family can enjoy without the high-stress G-forces of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

It's definitely on the milder side, but it's so buttery smooth it's more enjoyable than Space Mountain, with how janky the latter has gotten. It is not worth a significant wait though, so if you can rope drop or end of night it, that would be better. The queue is brutal in the sun, too. YES, slinky dog is great!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – Magic Kingdom: There is some debate about whether this is more or less intense than Slinky Dog Dash; they're close, but I rated it after Slinky Dog because the cars have a bit of a swinging quality that causes me some slight nausea.

Fun for the Whole Family Well, almost everyone — it does have a height restriction of 38 inches. Because Disney World doesn't have many coasters, a lot of folks like this ride because it's one of the few thrilling opportunities they have like it. Here we go! But even so, kids can enjoy it, too.

What is this? If you can only ride Slinky Dog Dash once, I suggest skipping it while it's light out and coming back to it after dark. While there is more to see at Toy Story Land during the day, the nighttime feel is a bit more magical. It's cooler too, or (in the summertime at least) not so hot in the evening.
