In the Star Wars saga, Rey is not related to Anakin Skywalker by blood; however, she is his granddaughter by choice and spiritual lineage. Biologically, Rey is the granddaughter of Emperor Sheev Palpatine (Darth Sidious), Anakin's former master. Her father was a "non-force-sensitive" clone of the Emperor. This makes her the biological descendant of the Skywalker family's greatest enemy. However, at the conclusion of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey symbolically rejects the Palpatine name and adopts the name Rey Skywalker, having been mentored by Anakin's children, Luke and Leia. Furthermore, the concept of the "Dyad in the Force" links her intimately with Ben Solo (Anakin's grandson), creating a profound metaphysical connection to the Skywalker bloodline. While Anakin and Rey share no DNA, their destinies are intertwined through the Force, with Rey ultimately carrying the legacy of the "Chosen One" into the future, essentially becoming the adopted heir to the family that dedicated their lives to balancing the galaxy and defeating her biological grandfather.
