How long before my Eurostar train should I be at the train station?

The check-in procedure for Eurostar train journeys takes roughly 20 minutes from start to finish, and depending on the class you're travelling in, it's recommended that you arrive at least 90 minutes before your Eurostar train leaves.

For a Eurostar journey, it’s crucial to arrive well in advance due to security, passport, and ticket checks similar to an airport. Here are the official guidelines and recommendations:

Official Eurostar Recommendation

  • Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure for most trains.
  • They advise arriving at the station at least 45–60 minutes before your train leaves. This allows time for security, French passport/UK exit checks (and entry checks on return), and boarding.

Key Steps at the Station

  1. Ticket Scan & Baggage Screening – Right after entry.
  2. Passport Control – Both UK and French border police checks are done before boarding (in London, Paris, Brussels, etc.).
  3. Boarding – Usually starts 20–30 minutes before departure and closes 10 minutes before departure.

When to Arrive: Practical Advice

  • If traveling during peak periods (summer, Christmas, bank holidays): Arrive up to 2 hours early to account for longer queues.

Special Situations

  • Business Premier passengers have access to faster lanes and lounges, so 45 minutes may suffice.
  • If you’re checking in luggage (only available on certain routes), allow
