How long does it take for Trainline to send tickets?

You'll get your tickets within two to three working days of booking. We'll only offer this delivery option to you if your journey's more than seven days away, just to make sure there's plenty of time. If you're due to catch your train in the next three days and you've not had your tickets, then please contact us.

Please make sure to check your Junk and spam folders as sometimes the email turn up there. If you still can't find them then the email address you entered may of had a mistake. Don't worry as this is easily fixed you will need to get in touch with our call centre team and they will be able to find your booking.

Getting Your Ticket
  1. You'll receive your eTicket as a PDF attachment to your emailed receipt. You can even retrieve your eTicket in the app.
  2. Open the eTicket PDF on your mobile device. You can even print your eTicket before arriving at the station.
  3. Simply show the eTicket barcode and your ID to the conductor.

There may be interim dates when timetables and Advance tickets are yet to be confirmed by train operators. We'll do our very best to alert you as soon as our systems detect availability. If you do not receive an alert, check back in before you travel to book a ticket and reserve a seat.

Regardless of the ticket platform used for the delivery of your tickets, you just need the name and email of the person to whom you're transferring tickets. This person will then receive the same email you received notifying them that tickets have been transferred to them.

When a customer purchases an e-ticket, the e-ticket is emailed to them as a PDF file or stored in an online ticketing system. The e-ticket contains information such as the customer's name, flight number, seat number and other relevant details about the purchase.

Yes. You can show your E-Ticket directly to the driver on your smartphone or device when boarding. This is the quickest and easiest way.

The purchased ticket(s) will be electronically delivered to your phone's ticket wallet (see more on Ticket Wallet below) and a receipt for your purchase will automatically be sent to your email address. Please note that screenshots or videos of MTA eTix tickets are strictly prohibited.

The Anytime Return train ticket is a flexible ticket with no travel time restrictions. The outward portion of your journey is valid for five days, including the issue date, and you can use the return portion of your ticket at any time within one calendar month of the issue date.
