Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status lasts for the remainder of the calendar year in which you earned it, plus an additional 14 months. Specifically, if you earn Gold Elite status by staying 25 nights in 2025, your status will be valid through the end of 2025, all of 2026, and officially expire on February 28, 2027. Marriott uses the months of January and February each year as a "grace period" to process all renewals and downgrades from the previous year. If you do not meet the 25-night requirement again during the 2026 calendar year, you will see your status drop to Silver Elite (or whatever level you qualified for) in early March 2027. This cycle allows frequent travelers a bit of extra time at the beginning of the year to utilize their benefits while the system updates. Note that "Lifetime Gold Elite" status, earned after 400 nights and seven years of status, does not expire as long as the account remains active and in good standing.
