A standard cruising permit in the Bahamas is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. As of 2026, the fees are based on the size of the vessel: $500 for boats under 50 feet, $1,000 for those between 50 and 99 feet, and $3,000 for vessels over 100 feet. This permit allows for two entries into the Bahamas within a 30-day window. For frequent visitors, the Bahamas introduced the Frequent Digital Cruising Card (FDCC), which is valid for 2 years and allows for unlimited entries without re-applying. It is vital to note that while the cruising permit lasts a year, any accompanying fishing permits are only valid for 30 days and must be renewed monthly if you plan to fish. Additionally, there is no longer an option to extend a cruising permit past the 12-month mark; once it expires, you must apply for an entirely new permit to remain in Bahamian waters legally.
