At 5:30 am on Friday of Marathon Weekend is the Walt Disney World 10k, a 6.2 mile race that snakes around Epcot and the Epcot Resort area. Like the other races, Disney characters and other entertainment are found all along the 10k course.

Love the Disney MarathonIt really is an awesome race. I have also learned that you don't need to get there as early as they say you do. I typically get there 1 hour before the race starts and then I walk to the start. There are so many rolling starts that sometimes I get into a different corral, but it is fine.
Riding attractions during the raceSomething fun about the longer distance runs is the parks may open while you are running through them. This may be the case if you start out in a later corral. If this happens, you are allowed to get on an attraction and ride it, which is pretty cool!
Since the start time is 5:30 am on a Sunday, you also get the opportunity to see all the theme parks at times when guests are not allowed in. The cost to participate in the 2021 WDW Marathon is $195 per runner.
If you're worried about your kids remembering the trip, you may want to wait until they're at least 5 or 6 years old to visit. Of course, a 5-year-old will be able to remember a Disney trip when they're older. Still, children under 5 probably won't remember much.
Disney World truly has something for everyone at every age, but visiting Disney World with a four-year-old for the first time was pretty magical. We loved everything about the trip but also learned a lot.
