How long to spend in Stratford-upon-Avon?

With 2 days in Stratford-upon-Avon, you can see Shakespeare's houses (and those of his family), explore the historic heart of the town, and go to a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company. I would recommend 3 nights at least. There is plenty to do the 5 houses will take at least 1 day if not a little more if you want to do them justice. Warwick castle will take another day. If you add on MAD museum, butterfly farm and town walk you and many other attractions you could fill 5 days.

If you are visiting Stratford just for a day, it might be a bit of a stretch to also visit as well as all the other sights. However if you are here for a couple of days, or have an interest in a Tudor farm (it's great for families), this is definitely worth visiting in our opinion.

I am always surprised when I read posts that Stratford Upon Avon is too commercial or disappointing. We enjoyed the city, especially the Shakespeare tour of four places (house he was born with great museum, location of his house, church were he was buried and Anne Hathaway's house.
