How long will MagicBands last?

But the full capabilities of the bands including linking your photos to your My Disney Experience account usually are unable to be performed after the battery runs about at around the 2-3 year mark.

The lifespan of a Disney MagicBand depends entirely on which version you own. Original MagicBand 1.0 and 2.0 models contain a non-replaceable, non-rechargeable internal battery that typically lasts between two and three years. These batteries power the "long-range" features, such as automatically linking your ride photos to your account or triggering personalized effects. Once this battery dies, those specific features will stop working. However, the "tap-to-use" features (like entering the parks, opening your Disney resort door, or charging to your room) use RFID technology that does not require a battery; therefore, these functions will technically last forever as long as the internal chip remains undamaged. The newer MagicBand+ is rechargeable and can theoretically last for many years if the battery is properly maintained. It is recommended to charge a MagicBand+ every night during your trip, as its interactive light and vibration features can drain the battery in 1–3 days. If the battery on a MagicBand+ dies, it will still function as a basic "tap" band for entry and room access, just like the older models.
