How many children can I take on my National Trust family membership?

National Trust Family Membership; up to 10 children for FREE.

Great question! The National Trust’s Family Membership covers:

  • 2 adults (named on the membership card)
  • Up to 10 children or grandchildren under the age of 18

Key details to remember:

  • All children must be under 18. There is no lower age limit—babies and toddlers are included.
  • The children do not need to be named on the membership card. This makes it very flexible for taking different combinations of your own children, friends’ children, or grandchildren on different visits.
  • The 10-child limit is a maximum per visit, not a total number of registered children. You can bring different children each time.
  • Proof of membership: Only the two named cardholding adults need to present the membership card(s) for entry. You don’t need birth certificates for the children.

What if you have more than 2 adults? If you regularly visit with more than 2 adults (e.g., two parents and a grandparent), you would need to upgrade to a Family & 2nd Carer membership or purchase an additional individual membership.

In summary: Your Family Membership allows you to take your own children plus others, up to a total of 10 under-18s, accompanied by at least one of the named adult members on any single visit. It’s one of the most generous and flexible family memberships available.

For the most official and up-to-date information, you can always double-check the National Trust’s website under their “Join Us” section.
