How many days do you need in PEI?

I would not do less than four or five days, assuming you'll have a car. While PEI seems small, there is so much to discover, especially if you like the coast and beaches. We stayed downtown Charlottetown and did our day trips from there.

To fully experience the charm of Prince Edward Island (PEI), a stay of 3 to 5 days is generally recommended for most travelers in 2026. A 3-day itinerary allows you to cover the "Big Three": the historic capital of Charlottetown, the iconic Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish, and the stunning red-sand beaches of the PEI National Park. With five days, you can delve deeper into the island's coastal culture by driving the Points East Coastal Drive to see the "Singing Sands" at Basin Head or exploring the rugged northwestern tip at North Cape. This extra time allows for a more relaxed pace to enjoy the island's legendary culinary scene—such as shucking oysters with a local fisherman or attending a traditional lobster boil. For those who enjoy outdoor activities like biking the 470km Confederation Trail or playing on world-class golf courses, a week-long stay provides the perfect balance of adventure and the island's signature "slow-living" atmosphere.
