How many miles do you need to book a flight with Capital One Venture card?

You need 100 Capital One miles for every dollar that a flight costs. Each mile is worth one cent when spent on travel. So, if your flight costs $200, you'll need 20,000 miles. That's a pretty standard rate for reward redemption.

To book a flight with a Capital One Venture card in 2026, the number of miles you need depends on whether you are "erasing" a purchase or transferring to a partner. If you use the "Purchase Eraser" feature (the most flexible method), miles are worth exactly 1 cent each; therefore, a $500 flight requires 50,000 miles. There is no minimum to use this feature as long as you have enough miles to cover at least a portion of the travel purchase made in the last 90 days. However, if you want to transfer miles to a travel partner (like British Airways, Avianca, or Emirates) to book a "Reward Flight," the "gold standard" requirement is a minimum transfer of 1,000 miles. From there, the mileage required is determined by the airline's own award chart; a short-haul domestic flight might only cost 7,500–10,000 partner miles, while a Business Class seat to Europe could be 50,000–80,000 miles. Savvy travelers in 2026 often find that transferring miles provides much higher value (up to 2 or 3 cents per mile) than simply "erasing" the cash cost of a ticket through the Capital One portal.
