How many points do you need for a hotel at Chase Sapphire?

If you hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, your points will be worth 1.5 cents each, so 50,000 points will be worth $750 towards travel. And the same rings true if you're booking a hotel through Chase. Depending on which Chase card you have, you can book a $200 hotel stay for as few as 13,333 Chase points.

The number of points required for a hotel through Chase Sapphire depends on the booking method. If you book through the Chase Travel℠ portal, points have a fixed value: 1.25 cents per point for Sapphire Preferred and 1.5 cents per point for Sapphire Reserve. A $200 hotel room would thus cost roughly 16,000 or 13,333 points, respectively. However, the "sweet spot" in 2026 is often transferring points 1:1 to Hyatt, where high-end rooms can be found for as little as 15,000 to 25,000 points for properties that would otherwise cost $500+. Marriott and IHG are also partners, but their redemption rates are generally less favorable. There is no "minimum" amount to book, as Chase allows you to pay with a combination of points and cash.
