How many steps up to Ravello?

We knew we wanted to do a hike somewhere in the hills from Atroni, and were told Ravello was a must see hill town and the hot spot for pottery/porcelian. From our hotel in Atroni we found the steps to Ravello, just follow the tile signs (everything is in tile).

To walk from the seaside town of Amalfi or Minori up to the mountain village of Ravello, you will need to climb approximately 1,500 to 1,700 stone steps, depending on your specific starting point. The path is part of the ancient mule tracks that once connected the villages of the Amalfi Coast. While the "staircase" is physically demanding and takes most people about 45 to 60 minutes of continuous climbing, it offers some of the most spectacular, uninterrupted views of the coastline and lemon groves. The steps are mostly well-maintained but vary in height and steepness. For those who aren't prepared for a high-intensity workout in the Italian sun, there is a local SITA bus and several private shuttles that travel the winding road to the top in about 20 minutes. However, "earning" the view from the Villa Cimbrone by climbing the thousand-plus steps is a traditional rite of passage for hikers visiting the region in 2026 who want to experience the "vertical" nature of the Amalfi Coast firsthand.

Its best to see Amalfi and Ravello one day and Positano another but it is possible to 'see' all 3 without spending a lot of time in each, you just don't get to see all that each place has to offer. Personally I would not drop Ravello, out of the 3 towns it is the most 'amazing'.
