How many SU 57 does Russia have?

The first Su-57 was delivered to the Russian military in 2020 and there are reportedly as many as 10 in its arsenal, with state media estimating that this figure will jump to 22 by the end of next year and increase to 76 by 2028.

As of early 2026, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) are estimated to have approximately 42 to 50 Sukhoi Su-57 Felon aircraft in their inventory, though this number includes both serially produced units and about 10 initial flight prototypes used for testing. Following several years of production delays at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant, Russia has significantly ramped up its manufacturing efforts, aiming to reach a full fleet of 76 serial aircraft by the end of 2027. Despite the relatively small fleet size compared to American fifth-generation fighters, the Su-57 has seen limited combat deployment in the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine to test its stealth capabilities and standoff missile systems. The program remains a central pillar of Russia's modernized air power strategy, with current production rates suggesting that the military receives roughly 12 to 15 new airframes per year. While the "Felon" is Russia's first stealth fighter, its integration into the broader force has been a slow process, focused on proving its multi-role capabilities as a heavyweight air superiority platform before potential future export to international partners like Algeria.
