Disney MagicBands must be collected from Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs.
You link it to your park ticket or Magic Key pass so that the MagicBand can be used for park admission and to redeem Lightning Lanes with Genie+ or other services, such as scanning in for Disability Access Service (DAS). It makes acquiring PhotoPass images so much easier by linking the images right to your account.
MagicBands connect you to all the vacation choices you made on the My Disney Experience mobile app so you can travel lighter, enter the parks (with valid admission and a theme park reservation), unlock your Disney Resort hotel room and make purchases.
While MagicBands offer Guests the ultimate in convenience, they're not critical for theme park entry. Guests may use physical cards (provided at the ticket booths) or Disney MagicMobile service (available through the My Disney Experience mobile app) to tap in at the turnstiles as well!
The previous generations of MagicBands from Walt Disney World, such as the original MagicBand or MagicBand 2, are incompatible with the Disneyland Resort system.
