The original Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas cost approximately $800 million for its initial phases in the late 1990s, though subsequent expansions (like The Reef and The Cove) pushed the total investment well over $2 billion. The even more extravagant Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, which opened in 2008, had a construction price tag of roughly $1.5 billion. Most recently, the sister property Atlantis The Royal (also in Dubai), which opened in 2023, cost a staggering $1.4 billion to build. These high costs are driven by the massive scale of the resorts, which include complex underwater aquariums, elaborate water parks, and high-end materials used to create their iconic "mythical" architectural themes.
