How much does it cost to extend Emirates miles?

Tier Miles cannot be transferred. Skywards Miles that are due to expire within the next ninety (90) days can be extended for an additional validity of 12 months from the date of the original expiry by an Eligible Skywards Member via the Points Platform (“Extend Miles”) at the cost of USD 20 per 1,000 Miles.

If your Emirates Skywards miles are set to expire, you can pay to extend their validity for an additional 12 months. As of 2026, the cost to extend expiring miles is typically around $20 per 1,000 miles. It is important to note that you can only extend miles that are due to expire within the next three months. Additionally, if your miles have already expired, Emirates offers a "reinstate" service for miles that vanished in the last six months, usually at a slightly higher or similar rate. There is often a minimum transaction requirement (such as 1,000 miles) and a yearly cap (often 50,000 miles) on how many you can extend or reinstate. While the fee might seem high, it can be worth it if you are just a few thousand miles short of a high-value "Classic Reward" flight or a business class upgrade that would otherwise cost thousands of dollars in cash.
