Wicked Twister was announced on November 20, 2001. It opened on May 5, 2002. In 2003, Cedar Point added an extra two yellow supports on each spiked tower to attach the track to the top of the main structure. It was announced on August 6, 2021 that the ride had reached the end of its service life.
