How polluted is Santa Monica Bay?

The bad news is that the waters around Santa Monica Pier were ranked the most polluted along the California coast. For 30 years, Heal the Bay has produced an annual report assigning letter grades from A to F for 700 beaches from Washington to Tijuana; 500 of those beaches are in California.
