How quickly does clear work?

Airport enrollments take only a few minutes. An ambassador will scan your approved documents and biometrics, and you'll answer a few security questions before entering the Lane and moving on with your day. After enrolling, you can access CLEAR Lanes directly.

CLEAR works in a matter of seconds once you have completed the initial enrollment process. At the airport, instead of waiting for a TSA officer to manually check your ID and boarding pass, you simply walk up to a CLEAR Pod, where your identity is verified via a quick iris scan or fingerprint. Once verified, a CLEAR Ambassador escorts you directly to the front of the physical security screening line (either the standard line or the TSA PreCheck line if you have both). The "check-in" portion at the pod typically takes less than 10 to 15 seconds. If you are not yet a member, you can enroll at the airport in about 5 minutes by scanning your government-issued ID and taking a photo. CLEAR's primary value is "predictability"; it essentially removes the uncertainty of the document-check line, allowing frequent travelers to bypass the longest part of the pre-security wait almost instantly.

People Also Ask

Clear allows you to skip the security line completely because instead of waiting in line, you approach a Clear kiosk where your ID and boarding pass are verified through biometric technology. Once that quick process is complete, a Clear agent escorts you right to the front of security. No waiting required.
