As of March 2026, Labadee is currently not being visited by cruise ships due to ongoing security concerns in Haiti. Royal Caribbean Group, which operates the private resort, suspended all calls to Labadee in 2024 and recently extended that suspension through the end of 2026. While Labadee itself is a private, fenced-off enclave with its own security force and is located far from the capital of Port-au-Prince, the escalating gang violence and the U.S. State Department's "Level 4: Do Not Travel" advisory for the entire country made regular operations untenable. When it is open, Labadee is considered extremely safe for passengers because it is a controlled environment where only cruise guests and authorized local staff are permitted. However, given the current instability in the nation, the cruise lines have prioritized passenger safety by replacing Labadee stops with extra sea days or alternative ports like Grand Turk. Until the security situation in the broader country stabilizes, this tropical paradise remains off-limits to the cruising public.
