How strict is Blue Lagoon entry time?

While we aim for versatility, it's often not possible to accommodate late or delayed arrivals. However, all tickets have a one-hour window of flexibility. For example, a ticket booked for 13:00 means that you can arrive anytime between 13:00 and 14:00.

Excellent question. The short answer is: Blue Lagoon is quite strict about entry times, especially during peak seasons and hours.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of how it works and what you need to know:

Your booked entry time is a 30-minute window (e.g., 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM). You are expected to arrive within this window.

What Happens If You’re Early?

  • You will likely have to wait. You cannot enter the lagoon until your scheduled time slot begins. You can wait in the main lobby, check your bags, or browse the shop, but you won’t be allowed through the turnstiles to the changing rooms until your time opens.
  • During very quiet periods, staff might let you in a little early if capacity allows, but you should never count on this.

What Happens If You’re Late?

This is where it gets stricter. Grace Period: There is typically a moderate grace period (often cited as 1-2 hours by staff, especially for the Comfort or Premium packages). This is because they understand flight delays or traffic from Keflavik Airport (which is very close by). However, this is not guaranteed. Entry is always subject to availability. If you arrive very late (e.g., 3+ hours past your time) during a fully booked day, they have the right to deny entry or reschedule you for a later time if space is available. The key factor is capacity. The Blue Lagoon strictly controls the number of people in the water for safety and comfort. If the next few time slots are completely
