How to get from Madrid Airport to city by Metro?

Madrid's Barajas Airport has Metro stations in Terminal T2 and the newer Terminal T4. Trains leave every 5 minutes from 6.00am to 2.00am. Line 8 goes straight to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro station in the centre of Madrid, with a journey time of just 12 minutes.

To get from Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to the city center by Metro in 2026, you must take Line 8 (Pink Line). There are two Metro stations at the airport: one for Terminals 1, 2, and 3, and one for Terminal 4. Follow the "Metro" signs to the station and purchase a "Multi Card" (rechargeable transport card) for €2.50 at the automated machines. A single journey to the center costs between €4.50 and €5, which includes the mandatory "Airport Supplement." Line 8 will take you directly to Nuevos Ministerios, a major transit hub. From there, you can transfer to Line 10 (Dark Blue) for Plaza de España or Line 6 (Grey) for other central neighborhoods. The journey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to reach Nuevos Ministerios. Be sure to check your final destination, as a transfer to the Cercanías (commuter train) at Nuevos Ministerios might be faster if your hotel is near Sol or Atocha.
