Getting from Verona to Lake Garda by train is a very simple and efficient process, as the lake is located just a short distance to the west of the city. You will start at the Verona Porta Nuova station, which is the city's main railway hub. From there, you need to catch a train heading toward Milan. There are two primary stations on the southern shore of Lake Garda: Peschiera del Garda and Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione. The journey to Peschiera takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes, while Desenzano is about 20 to 25 minutes away. You can choose between the "Regionale" trains, which are cheaper and do not require seat reservations, or the faster "Frecciarossa" or "Italo" high-speed trains. Once you arrive at either station, the lakefront is within walking distance, or you can take a short bus or taxi ride to reach specific towns like Sirmione. For those heading to the northern part of the lake (like Riva del Garda), you would take a train to Rovereto and then transfer to a local bus, though the southern train route remains the most popular and direct way to access the water from Verona.
