The original "9-euro-ticket" was a temporary promotion in Germany and is no longer available in 2026; it has been replaced by the permanent Deutschlandticket (D-Ticket), which currently costs 49 euros per month. Neither of these tickets is valid for "all" trains. They are strictly for local and regional transport (RB, RE, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, and buses). They are NOT valid on high-speed long-distance trains like the ICE, IC, or EC, nor on private services like FlixTrain. The D-Ticket is sold as a digital-only monthly subscription that can be canceled by the 10th of the month. While it offers incredible value for nationwide travel on regional lines, travelers going between major cities like Berlin and Munich will still need to purchase separate ICE tickets for a fast journey.
