Is a Railcard a photocard?

Please note any form of railcard (including 16-25 Railcards) cannot be used as a Photocard. Please remember that your Photocard and ticket must be produced for inspection when requested.

No photo ID is required when you buy adult Travelcards from anywhere but railway stations. For a 7 Day Travelcard or longer (adult or child) bought from a railway station ticket office (not Underground) you need to bring along a passport size photo for a rail photocard to be made up on the spot and free of charge.

Railcards can be renewed within 30 days of expiry, to either a digital or a plastic Railcard. Just log into your account and select 'Digital' when completing the application process.

To link your Oyster card and railcard, you need to take your Oyster card and your railcard to an Underground station, Overground ticket office or some National Rail ticket offices and ask the clerk to add your discount entitlement to your Oyster card.
