Is Big Lake a natural lake?

Big Lake owes its existence first to glaciers that carved out the Missouri River Valley some 15,000 years ago, and then to the river's meanderings across the valley floor. The lake is an oxbow––a curved stretch of water left behind when a river takes a shortcut across one of its loops.
