Is Bodrum better than Alanya?

Be aware that Bodrum is a peninsula with a number of resort towns (including Bodrum City) all of which have their own characteristics and tend to attract a different crowd. Alanya on the other hand is one town. Bodrum City is great for nightlife, dining and shopping but beaches (not swimming pools) are in short supply.
