Is character dining worth it at Disneyland Paris?

Character dining experiences at Disneyland® Paris are a little more expensive than the everyday dining you can enjoy elsewhere in the parks and hotels. However, for the opportunity to meet your favourite Disney Characters in a relaxed setting, while enjoying high-quality food, we think they are more than worth it!

Character dining at Disneyland Paris is widely considered "worth it" primarily for the significant time it saves and the guaranteed interactions it provides. At locations like Auberge de Cendrillon (Princesses) or Plaza Gardens (Mickey and friends), the characters come directly to your table, allowing children to get autographs and photos without waiting in the 60 to 90-minute lines found at the "Meet Mickey" or "Princess Pavilion" locations in the park. The food is generally of a higher standard than the standard quick-service burgers, often featuring multi-course French-inspired menus or high-quality buffets. However, it is expensive, often costing between €80 and €100 per adult. For families with young children who prioritize meeting characters, it is a valuable investment in "magic" and efficiency. For those without children or those more interested in the rides, the cost might be hard to justify, especially since the quality of food at non-character table service restaurants like Walt’s – An American Restaurant can be superior for a lower price point.

You'll want to budget about 90 minutes (plus travel time) for your meal. That gives you time to check in, be seated, and then time to eat and see all the characters without racing through anything. It may take less time than that, but for planning purposes, 90 minutes is a good rule of thumb.

Disney Character Dining is simply a table-service (sit-down) meal where Disney characters come directly to your table while you're eating. You can take pictures. You can get their autograph. You can even ask them those heart-burning questions you've long wondered about — like asking Snow White what's in Gooseberry Pie.

If you're a family of five, this means a five dollar tip for your housekeeper each day. You're supposed to leave the tip separately each day, rather than at the end of your stay, because there likely will be different people cleaning your room over the course of your visit.

For some foods, Disney buys ingredients (if not the entire food) from third-party sellers. The price they pay for those items will play a big part in determining the cost, as Disney wants to turn a profit.
