Is Delta Silver status permanent?

Delta has four tiers of elite status: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. You can earn status by flying and spending enough within a single calendar year, and once earned you'll keep it through the following calendar year.

No, Delta Silver Medallion status is not permanent; it is earned on an annual basis and must be renewed each year to maintain the benefits. Once achieved, the status is typically valid for the remainder of the calendar year in which it was earned, plus the entire following calendar year, officially expiring on January 31st of the year after that. For example, if you reach the Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) threshold in June 2025, your Silver status will last until January 31, 2027. To keep the status for 2027 and beyond, you must re-qualify during the 2026 calendar year. Delta does not currently offer a "Lifetime Silver" tier, though they do have Million Miler milestones that can grant permanent annual status (typically starting at Gold for 1 million miles) to their most loyal, long-term flyers.
